MATERIALS THAT MATTER

Behind the Warmth

Better materials. Smarter choices. Same winter performance.

Warmth is only part of the story. At CHAOS, we keep looking for better ways to make the products that get us through winter — from recycled fleece and lower-impact yarns to certified fibres and more considered packaging.

Not perfect. Always improving.

WHAT'S INSIDE MATTERS

Start with the fibre.

The feel of a hat, the warmth of its lining and the way it performs through winter all begin with the materials. Across the CHAOS collection, we use a mix of recycled, certified and natural fibres selected for comfort, durability and cold-weather performance.

01

LOWER-IMPACT FIBRE

Polylana®

The softness and loft we want from winter yarns, with a reduced resource footprint.

76% less energy than regular acrylic*

Polylana® branded fibres offer an alternative to conventional acrylic and wool. The fibre is embedded with the AWARE™ Integrity System, designed to help validate composition, certification and impact claims.

According to Polylana®, its fibre uses 76% less energy, 85% less water, produces 76% less waste and releases 19% less CO₂ than regular acrylic.

Why CHAOS uses it

Soft hand feel, loft and durability make it particularly well suited to everyday winter knits.

02

RECYCLED PERFORMANCE

REPREVE®

Recycled performance fibre that brings softness and warmth where winter needs it.

Recycled warmth where it matters

REPREVE® turns recycled materials into performance fibre used in textiles designed for comfort, warmth and durability.

Its U TRUST® verification system helps authenticate recycled-content claims, while FiberPrint® technology supports traceability throughout the supply chain.

Where you'll find it

CHAOS uses REPREVE® polyester fleece in selected full linings and inner bands, adding soft next-to-skin insulation without unnecessary bulk.

03

MORE CONSIDERED PACKAGING

Vela

Better thinking doesn't stop when the hat is finished.

Paper instead of traditional single-use plastic poly bags

Vela provides a paper alternative to conventional single-use plastic poly bags. Its bags are designed to be weather-resistant, durable, transparent and curbside recyclable.

Vela uses FSC™-certified paper, helping us look beyond the product itself and consider how it travels from warehouse to wardrobe.

Why it matters

Packaging is part of the product journey too.

04

RESPONSIBLE CELLULOSIC FIBRE

LENZING™
ECOVERO™

A soft viscose fibre with a more considered production story.

Soft with a lighter-touch fibre story

LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibres are made from responsibly sourced wood and are produced using processes designed to reduce environmental impact compared with conventional viscose.

The fibre brings softness, drape and comfort to selected CHAOS winter blends.

Why CHAOS uses it

Because sustainable fibre choices still have to feel good when you put them on.

No greenwashing.

Only transparency.

True story.

MORE FROM THE COLLECTION

Different materials. Different jobs.

There isn't one perfect winter fibre. Some are chosen for warmth, some for softness, some for durability and some because they help us reduce reliance on virgin resources.

Merino Wool

Merino is prized for softness, warmth and temperature regulation. Its natural loft traps warm air efficiently while remaining lightweight.

It can also absorb moisture without immediately feeling wet, making it particularly useful in cold-weather accessories.

CHAOS uses merino in selected blends and premium winter styles.

Recycled Novelty Blends

Sustainable yarns don't have to feel utilitarian. Our recycled novelty blends were developed around the idea that lower-impact fibres should still deliver the loft, softness and visual texture we expect from CHAOS winter knits.

These blends create soft mélange effects and tactile surfaces that echo some of the cashmere- and mohair-like yarns traditionally associated with premium winter accessories.

Organic Cotton

GOTS — the Global Organic Textile Standard — is an internationally recognized standard for textiles made with certified organic fibres.

It covers more than the fibre itself, including requirements around processing, manufacturing, labelling and distribution.

CERTIFIED + VERIFIED

Claims should come with receipts.

Depending on the fibre, material or supplier, certifications and verification systems used across our supply chain include:

ONGOING WORK

PFAS + PFC

We understand concerns surrounding per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances and related fluorinated compounds.

CHAOS continues to evaluate materials, manufacturing processes and suppliers with the goal of minimizing reliance on these substances while maintaining the quality and performance expected from our products.

This is ongoing work, not a finished claim — and we think that distinction matters.
